The Bunyip is a simple house with simple ideas.
The house has been designed for a local family to connect to landscape, site and each other.
Hemmed in by neighbours the house turns its attention inwards to a landscaped courtyard that all daily activities will revolve around. The courtyard acts to bring natural light and prevailing breezes deep within the house. Various rooms with various uses occupy the courtyard edge which allows a variation of engagement with the landscaping. View lines are created across the courtyard while distinct separation between private and public spaces is maintained. A material palette of local hardwood, cement sheet & concrete provide a rich and earthy context.
